ABOUT ME

My Interest In Dietetics

My name is Isabella Apple and I am currently a sophomore at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio studying Nutrition with a Dietetics focus. I have always been interested in the concept of nutrition and health since I was active in sports for most of my life. In the past I struggled with an eating disorder and I know how daunting of a task eating can be for some people. I want to use my knowledge of nutrition and compassion for helping people to hopefully become a dietitian for patients with eating disorders or for people who are special needs. I plan on pursuing an internship within the next year to broaden my horizons and knowledge of the different fields of nutrition. I hope my website is an insight to my passion as well as a source for my experiences.

MY SKILLS

GRAPHIC DESIGN KNOWLEDGE

I used my skills of graphic design in the past to make flyers/posters, Instagram posts, Instagram story posts and a menu for a local shake shop in my hometown. I also have my own online store where I digitally draw my own artwork and put it up for sale.

POSITIVE COMMUNICATION

In my job experiences as a sales associate, gymnastics coach and a server at a country club, I gained great knowledge on how to communicate effectively. I not only broke out of my shell, but I also learned how to communicate in group settings which will be key for job opportunities in the future.

CREATIVE

I am a very artistic person who loves to incorporate a piece of creativity into everything I do. I was recently appointed the position of Art Chairwoman in my sorority Gamma Phi Beta (Beta Epsilon Chapter at Miami University). I think being open-minded and considering creative outlets for problems is important and can be beneficial in the work place.

OPEN-MINDED

In my experience with working in teams, I learned to become open-minded and listen to other people's perspectives when problem solving. It is important to be open-minded and really listen to others ideas and opinions to not jump to conclusions. I also gained skills to lead the group to be more open-minded if it appears the group members aren't accepting of everyones ideas.

CONFIDENT PRESENTER

In the past I took a public speaking class which took me out of my shell. I learned how to present effectively and grab the audience's attention, how to have confident body language, what arm and eye movements are appropriate and what tone of voice to use throughout a presentation. Since this class I've lead group presentations effectively and have received good grades on presentations.

RESPECTFUL

When applying for a job, working at a job or talking to professionals about your future, I think it is important to implement respect into everything you say. People work better in group projects when everyone is on the same page and respectful to one another which is SO important. I also think it's important to treat others how you want to be treated, so respect for me is always important.
